In Yangon, an international hotel is taking women’s safety seriously. It has a whole floor reserved for women traveling alone.
The Sedona Hotel, has completed the construction in May 2016 of a new tower-wing with 431 modern and well-appointed guest rooms and suites overlooking the calm and peaceful Inya Lake. Decorated with intricate elements of traditional Burmese art, the hotel has a luxury retail gallery, a modern fitness center and most interestingly, the hotel has reserved a whole floor for women traveling alone.
From the moment of check-in, ladies traveling alone are handed a welcome letter which details special discounts just for them. No matter what category of room was booked, they immediately get an upgrade to one of the rooms on the 16th floor, with a fresh flowers bouquet waiting in the room. Furthermore, a special welcome luxury package containing ladies’ accessories and bath amenities such as a nail file, nail cutter, bath scrub mitt and some other ladies only items. Worth noting is the fact that all toiletries are France made renowned L’Occitane products.
Ladies traveling alone get 30% discount on Hair and Scalp massage and Shiseido products services at the Shunji Matsuo Hair Salon in the hotel, 15% discount on clothing items at La Precious boutique gift shop, complimentary laundry service, up to 3 items per day, complimentary in-room mini bar, late check-out until 4 PM.
In addition to the above-mentioned perks, the feeling of security is probably the main and most appreciable aspect of this innovative policy.
To our knowledge, it is the only hotel in Myanmar that has adopted this very inviting attitude towards women traveling alone and we think it is certainly going to be appreciated by this growing group of World Travelers.
